Car Problems? Your AAA Membership Level Can Make All the Difference

Your roadside assistance service limits depend on your AAA membership level.
Did you know that AAA Premier members can be towed up to 200 miles?

If you frequently travel by car, you know that accidents and mistakes are bound to happen. Even responsible drivers sometimes wind up with an empty gas tank or their keys locked inside the car. These are problems that your AAA membership will help you with, but did you know AAA benefits increase depending on which tier of membership you choose?

Here are a few common roadside assistance scenarios featuring a breakdown on how AAA Basic®, AAA Plus® and AAA Premier® members can use their benefits to get back on the road.

Uh oh. I ran out of gas.

Don't worry, it happens to everyone at some point. Fortunately, your AAA membership includes emergency fuel delivery. There is no cost for the fuel to be brought to you, but AAA Basic members will have to pay for the gas. You'll pay current gas pump prices, and our truck operators will deliver enough gas that you can drive to the nearest service station.

AAA Plus and AAA Premier enjoy the same fuel delivery benefits, but they receive no charge for the gas.

What if I get my car stuck? Maybe even… really stuck!

Did you back up into a ditch? Maybe you got your tires stuck in the mud? AAA has you covered if you get your car stuck and can't get it moving yourself. Keep in mind that the car needs to be reachable from a firm surface, like a driveway, so our AAA trucks can extricate or winch your car out safely. AAA Basic members are entitled to one truck and one operator for up to one hour at the scene of disablement.

AAA Plus and AAA Premier members can get up to two AAA trucks and two operators to help free your car. If your car can't run after being extricated, your extended towing benefits will apply.

My car's not stuck. It even has gas! But it just won't start :(

Your AAA membership level determines how far your car can be towed free of charge. Members are entitled to one tow per disablement. AAA Basic members can be towed up to 5 miles from the point of the breakdown, or to the service station or AAA Car Care Plus facility being dispatched for the tow.

AAA Plus members get their towing mileage extended up to 100 miles from wherever the breakdown occurred, while AAA Premier members have the same 100 mile towing limit with the addition of one tow up to 200 miles each year.

I'm pretty sure my car will start, but I locked my keys inside!

Don't be embarrassed, this is a common problem! If you lock your keys in your car, AAA will attempt to unlock it for you without charge. If we need assistance from a locksmith to unlock your car, your AAA membership will help reimburse the expense. AAA Basic members get up to $50 reimbursement, while AAA Plus members get up $100. AAA Premier members can be reimbursed up to $150 for locksmith services on their car.

AAA Plus and AAA Premier members enjoy additional benefits that keep them covered while on the road. Upgrade your membership today!
