Online reviews for hotels and restaurants are great and all, but did you know AAA has used professional inspectors to conduct in-person property evaluations for more than 80 years? AAA offers the only rating system using comprehensive, on-site professional hotel and restaurant inspections guided by member priorities.

As travelers, we want to make sure the establishment we choose will meet our needs and won't be a waste of time or money. AAA makes that process even simpler by doing the legwork! AAA's inspectors visit nearly 59,000 properties unannounced. They use strict guidelines to conduct thorough hotel and restaurant evaluations, assigning ratings for One to Five AAA Diamonds.

So, what makes up a Four Diamond hotel or restaurant?

A Four Diamond hotel is refined and stylish, providing upscale physical attributes, extensive amenities and a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail. Four Diamond hotels account for 6.3 percent of the more than 27,000 AAA Inspected & Approved and Diamond Rated hotels.

A Four Diamond restaurant provides distinctive fine dining, creatively prepared, skillfully served, often by a wine steward, amid upscale ambience. Four Diamond restaurants account for just 2.1 percent of the nearly 32,000 AAA Inspected & Approved restaurants.
