An important message to remember this holiday season and throughout the year: If you drink alcoholic beverages, don’t drive.

Every 51 minutes, a person is killed in a crash involving an alcohol-impaired driver, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. These deaths accounted for nearly one-third of all traffic-related deaths in 2015.

With the holidays and New Year’s Eve around the corner, AAA encourages partygoers to use ride-sharing or taxi services, choose a designated driver or make plans to spend the night at the host’s home. Celebrate responsibly to ensure a happy and healthy year ahead for you, your loved ones and everyone on the roads.
