Bellreng’s Towing and Automotive, a AAA contractor, is going pink to raise awareness of breast cancer, which will likely kill more than 40,000 women this year according to the American Cancer Society. Bellreng’s has unveiled a pink customer car to transport customers who need a ride while their vehicle is being serviced.

“Everyone looks over when they see it,” said owner Michael Bellreng. “Customers are asking about it, too. So I’m glad it’s raising awareness.”

Bellreng’s wife, Gina, works as a radiation therapist at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. With the American Cancer Society expecting to diagnose more than 250,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer this year, the couple wanted to do something to benefit the hospital. Yet taking an industry like auto repair and going pink isn’t always an easy thing to do. “At first, my guys were asking why, but then they got it,” Bellreng said. “Now we’re talking about wrapping my truck.”

You can spot the pink Ford Focus, complete with a AAA logo, out and about on area streets. Bellreng hopes every time someone sees it they join the fight to stop breast cancer. Bellreng’s Automotive is also donating 10 percent of all auto repair invoices in October to the WNY Breast Resource Center at Roswell to help battle cancer.

The Resource Center offers:

  • Free wigs, scarves and hats for patients
  • Referrals to breast prosthesis and undergarment fitters
  • Information and referrals to local cancer support groups and cancer advocacy groups
  • Information on support services at Roswell Park and in the community

When Breast Cancer Awareness Month ends, the pink car will stay that color to share the message for months and years to come. Bellreng’s is located at 345 Grand Island Boulevard in Tonawanda. They offer auto repair and towing and they are a AAA Approved Auto Repair shop.
