Today’s national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $2.85, no change from last week. One year ago, the price was $2.63. The New York State average is $3.00 - the same as last week. A year ago, the NYS average was $2.82. AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the following averages:

• Batavia - $2.96 (no change since last week)
• Buffalo - $2.99 (no change since last week)
• Ithaca - $2.92 (down a penny since last week)
• Rochester - $2.95 (down a penny since last week)
• Rome - $2.94 (down a penny since last week)
• Syracuse - $2.93 (down a penny since last week)
• Watertown - $3.03 (no change since last week)

The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $2.85 per gallon, which is the same price as last week, one cent less than a month ago, and 20 cents more compared to last year. Despite Hurricane Florence, gas prices have not seen much movement. Unlike the Gulf Coast, which is home to dozens of refineries, the Carolinas house pipelines and terminals, which deliver approximately 3 million barrels per day of refined products to the eastern U.S. U.S. crude processing was not impacted and gas prices have held steady nationally. However, fuel availability is of concern in the areas hit by the storm. Prices in Wilmington, NC are six cents higher than last week. We should have an update from AAA National later this morning. Fall gas prices are expected to drop to about $2.70 per gallon as refineries make the switch to winter blend fuel, which is cheaper to produce.
